Born and raised here on the Central Coast I absolutely love the area and will do everything in my power to remain here. Married in 1998 to my wonderful wife, Sandi, we lived in San Luis for the first few years until purchasing our home in Santa Margarita. I never realized how much I would love this little 'po-dunk' town until moving up here. It's quiet (except for the frogs in the springtime evenings!), it has seasons, you can grow a garden... you name it! Only 10min to either Atascadero or San Luis, it's just a short drive away from wherever you need to go.
In 2004 our wonderful son, Davin, was born and he's kept us on our toes ever since. The kid is whip-smart and has a memory like an elephant! Best of all, he has a sense of humor and understands 'funny'. ...Not just 'ha-ha-funny'; he comes up with some pretty original stuff and loves to routinely jump out from behind walls at me (at 3-1/2).
In high school I worked for Sea Shell Communities in Morro Bay as a Dietary Aide (and eventually Lead-Aide). Shortly after high school I started working for CCS (Mailorder) in San Luis, the world's largest skateboard retailer. I started out in sales, placing orders and fielding general questions, consistently making it in the top-5 sales. Shortly thereafter I was promoted to customer service. I was only in customer service for a few months before I was 'plucked' to become the company's first Purchaser (previously purchasing was part of the merchandiser's job). I quickly became an expert at Excel and all other aspects of the position; creating, analyzing and implementing the merchandise budget for the company. It was difficult, time consuming work ...and I loved every minute of it! Within a year I had an assistant then finally two more Purchasers (I had been promoted to Senior Purchaser by this point). In 2000, Alloy, Inc. out of NYC purchased CCS at which time my title was changed to 'Business Analyst'. By 2001, the distribution center was imploding and someone was needed there to coordinate, analyze and schedule the ever-increasing influx of product and act as liaison between the Merchandising/Purchasing departments and the DC. Well, I was that person. Although I had enjoyed the Purchasing/Merchandising Department and my time there so much, there was no longer any creativity, innovation or intuition needed and it was time to move on. Moving to the DC was a refreshing change of pace but everyone could see the writing on the wall, so to speak. The morale and dedication that had been the cornerstones of the DC were gone and it had passed the point of no return. In May 2002, Alloy shut down the DC and outsourced it to a company in the midwest.
For the first time since high school, I was out of work! Well, a couple of months later, the Director of Technology-SLO for Alloy phoned me and asked if I'd come back to work for him. So, for a couple of years I worked with databases, created reporting tools and performed QA on new software. But again, California was no longer in the cards for Alloy when they 'restructured'.
So now, a few months later I interview and soon start working for eDigital Memories in San Luis. Times were good. I again worked with a great group of people doing something I love; video and photo work. Some days it was building/converting/repairing 8mm film projectors, some days it was sitting in a dark room capturing films, some days it was editing on some wonderfully-fast equipment from dawn 'til dusk. It was always different and everyone loved what we did; essentially 'make people happy' (getting to see their films for the first time in 50 years!). Now, like so many businesses in SLO, eDM couldn't make ends meet and is no more. ...And so here I am.
Anyway, I'm a very fast learner and pride myself in being honest, independent, dedicated & hard-working. I love to laugh and enjoy those with a sense of humor. Don't believe me? Try me out. I guarantee I'll impress you or we can part ways, no hard feelings.
